Micromax Yu Yuphoria
         Micromax, the Indian smartphone flagship Company announced their subsidiary smartphone with extra options. The Yu Yuphoria, the new release from Yu Televentures now set to release 12th of this month. According to the spokesmen through the Twitter tweet, the handset will be available May 12th onwards.  "The moment of YUphoria is coming. Have you blocked your calendar?" the official tweet explains the features and attractions. The handset will be runs the latest Android lollipop along with the 4G LTE support.  


          The Cyanogen OS based smartphone code-named Project Caesar is now renamed as Yuphoria. Earlier, the Company conducted a naming campaign for crowd-sourcing name selection via social media platforms. The Campaign also known as "#YUNameIt" and it received over 100,000 entries. This is an attractive step in the smartphone world. Major part of the publicity was successfully managed to crowd-sourcing via naming campaign.
          There is no official word about the handset features at the movement. However, the popular Indian handset manufacturer confirmed that the device is listed for Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 (CM12S) update.      
          Now the Yu Yureka smartphone is priced Rs. 8,999 which is listed in the major e commerce website Amazon’s Indian edition.

Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 Dual SIM Smartphone
          In order to compete with national and international mobile manufacturers our Micromax has released its latest android running smartphone in India. The new device is named as Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 and its  listed online price is Rs 11,490.

          Micromax has been manufacturing mobile phones to cater the need of its customers since 2010. The Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 is a Dual SIM supporting smartphone. It runs on the Android 4.4 2 KitKat OS and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor along with 1GB RAM.

          Other notable features of the device are 4.7 inch HD display with 720x1280 pixels resolution, capacitive touch screen and 8GB internal memory. This is expandable up to 32GB via a micro SD slot. The battery capacity of this java supporting device is 2000mAh and is able to deliver 180 hours standby time and 7 hours talk time.

          When we move on to its camera side it houses a 8MP rear camera. The primary rear snapper supports full HD video recording and LED flash. Besides this it offers a 5 MP front facing snapper . The device includes the connectivity features as 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. These are the important features included in this smart phone.  


Samsung Galaxy Alpha Metal Framed Smartphone
          Samsung is experimenting with a new design approach by introducing Samsung Galaxy Alpha for its customers. This is Samsung’s first major metal smartphone while its predecessors came with plastic body. According to the South Korean titan, they have used sophisticated and compact construction techniques for the peripheral attraction of the smartphone.

          The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be working on the platform of the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS along with 1.8GHz Octa-core processor. The device houses 2GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage, which is hardly expandable.

          It presents 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a decent pixel resolution of 720x1280 pixels. A 12 MP rear camera is packed with the device without flash support. For having video chatting, it offers a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

          The device is also powered by an 1860 mAh battery. The dimension of this metal framed luxury is 132.40 x 65.50 x 6.70mm and its weight is 115.00g. The available connectivity features in this Java supporting device are WI FI (802.11 a/ b/ g/ n/ ac) GPS, Bluetooth (V 4.00), NFC, Headphones and 3 G. Like Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S5 this too houses a fingerprint scanner.

          Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope etc. are the sensors in the Galaxy Alpha. The company said that they are planning to release the phone sequentially from September onwards. The exact price and availability of the device is not yet mentioned officially.

Now the Android Nanu application claims that you can enjoy clarity in free call even in 2G networks also. This free application allows you to make a free call even if you don't have a fast network. Don’t think that the Nanu calling is possible only in mobiles, but its service is available in landlines too.

          You can talk up to ten minutes via nanu if you have IMB data in your mobile. Another revolutionary feature of this Android application is that a call is possible to a device which does not have a Nanu application installed.  But for such calls there is a restricted time limit of 15 minutes
The Nanu application supports free calls to landlines in 41 Countries and to mobiles in 9 Countries. The interesting news is that, India is included in the Nanu free call service.

Google Android OS
          A new report by the Strategic Analytics survey of the second quarter of this year, the 85% of the global mobile share market is dominated by the Google’s open source operating system, Android. Android - based smartphones have achieved a growth of 27% in sailing when compared to that of the previous year. That means, this year witnessed the selling of almost 295 million android units. 

          Apple’s iPhone Operating system (iOS) comes next to Android OS. But it failed to perform as the former year and  in global mobile market  iOS fell to 11.9 percent from 13.4 percent, a year ago. According to the survey report Microsoft Windows stands on the third position. It too dropped its market share to 2.7 percentage from 3.8 % of the previous year. Based on the survey, it is revealed that Blackberry did a very poor performance when matched to its last year performance. Its decline is from 2.4% to 0.6%. 

           In the opinion of Neil Mawston, Strategy Analytics executive director, “Android is on the verge of turning smartphone platforms into a one-horse race. Its low-cost services and user-friendly software remain wildly attractive to hardware makers, operators and consumers worldwide. Rival OS vendors are going to have to do something revolutionary to overturn Android's huge lead in smartphone shipments." 

Xolo A700s dual SIM budget smartphones
          A popular Indian smartphone company, Xolo has launched its A series dual SIM budget smartphone, Xolo A700s. The price tag of this mid range smartphone listed on the company website is Rs 7299. It comes as the successor to the Xolo A700 model released in 2012.

          The company has given extra care in its design and specifications when compared to its predecessor Xolo A700. The dimension of this touch screen supporting handset is 136.00 x 64.60 x 8.90mm and is protected by a rubberized rear cover.

          The device features a 4.05 inch QHD IPS display having the pixel resolution of 960 X 540 pixels. It is a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek (MT6572) processor, adds the strength of the device. Moreover, it works on the Android 4.2 Jelly bean operating system and has 1GB RAM. You can raise the 4GB inbuilt memory of the device up to 32GB via a micro SD card.

          A 5MB rear camera in the XoloA700s handset supports LED flashlight, diction and tuning, face recognition, HDR, Geo tagging, panorama mode etc. In addition to this it offers you a 0.3MP VGA front snapper. The Xolo argues that the 1800mAh battery packed with the smartphone is able to provide 22 hours of talk time in 2G network and 565 hours of standby time in 3G network.

          Other important features are WI FI (802.11 b/ g/ n), Bluetooth (v 3.00), Headphones, FM and USB. Furthermore the Xolo  A 700s carries proximity sensor and Accelerometer. Though the company has revealed the features regarding the phone, the Xolo hardly announces the date of its availability in the market. Besides this release the Xolo is expecting to launch its Q500s IPS (RS.5999) and Play 6X-1000(Rs 14499) in this month.

Sony Xperia T3 Smartphone (Black)
          Japan’s pride Sony Ericsson, is going to kick off the sailing of its Xperia T3 in India from the 28 of July 2014.The phone is manufactured in such a way that it is claimed as one of the slimmest smartphones  with 5.3 inch HD Triluminos display.

          The device priced at Rs. 27990 is running on Android 4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box along with a quad-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 1GB RAM. Its 5.3- inch display comes with the resolution of 720x1280- pixel and its pixel density being 277ppi.

The T3 is packed with the latest beautiful technology from Sony – including leading digital imaging expertise and a vivid HD display – all within a stylish, stainless steel frame.” It comes with a dimension of 150.7 x 77 x 7 mm and a weight of 148 grams.

          The device is powered by a 2500mAh battery, that gives you 13 hours of talk time and 688 hours of standby time. Whereas the Sony Xperia Z2 (review) comes with of 3200mAh battery. The internal storage capacity of the handset is 8GB and it can be boosted up to 32GB via a Micro SD card.

          The Xperia T3 carries a flashlight supporting 8GB rear camera. Besides having an auto focus option, it houses a Sony Exmor RS sensor, scene detection, HDR, face recognition, red-eye reduction and sweep Panorama. It also  presents a 1.1MP front facing camera The Xperia T3 is accessible in black, white and purple colours. The available connectivity options are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, DLNA, NFC, Micro-USB and 3G.

Microsoft says Goodbye to Android
          World’s largest software maker Microsoft is saying adieu to Google’s own operating system, Android. Microsoft is planning to shift its selected products from the Android- powered range to the platform of Windows. Mr. Stephen Elop, the Executive Vice President of Microsoft's Devices & Services business unit, revealed this news via an email to all the employees. To him from now onwards the Nokia X smartphones will be under Lumia brand and in future the Nokia X will work on the platform of Windows phone OS.

          Satya Nadellawe, the CEO of Microsoft says “We are working to integrate the Nokia Devices and Services teams into Microsoft. The first-party phone portfolio will align to Microsoft’s strategic direction. To win in the higher price tiers, we will focus on breakthrough innovation that expresses and enlivens Microsoft’s digital work and digital life experiences”. He adds “In addition, we plan to shift select Nokia X product designs to become Lumia products running Windows. This builds on our success in the affordable smartphone space and aligns with our focus on Windows Universal Apps.”

          The Microsoft revealed this along with the news of the dismissal of almost eighteen thousand employees from the company. Actually Nokia has announced their launching of Android running smartphones in the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, the last February. Soon after this event Microsoft wedded Nokia and they released their android smartphone at the end of June. 

Samsung Gear Live with Android Wear OS

          Samsung has ended all the speculations and rumors on its android running smartwatch by announcing the launching of Gear Live. The launching was announced in the Google’s I/O development conference in the last week of June.

          Unlike Samsung’s previous smart watches, the Gear Live runs on Android Wear OS, a special version on Android OS designed for smart watches and other wearables. It comes with a 1.63 inch super AMOLED display with a display resolution of 320 x 320pixels. It is reported that the display can perform greatly while you are indoors, but when the smartwatch is exposed in sunlight you can’t see much of anything. 

          The device is powered by a  1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM alongside with 4GB inbuilt storage. Apart from having an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass sensors the Gear Live sports a heart rate monitor like the flagship Samsung S5 (Review), dust and water resistant IP67 Certification, Bluetooth (4.0) connectivity and a 300mAh battery. 

          Moreover, you can purchase a white of Red wine color varieties from the market. The dimension of this 59g weighed device is 37.9 x 56.4 x 8.9 mm. The smartwatch is available in India via Google play at the price of Rs. 15,900. LG G that has a higher battery capacity (400mAh) when compared to the Gear live will be a powerful rival to Samsung Gear Live.

          The Indian smart phone manufacturer Micromax again expands their low budget innovation for adding a GSM-CDMA connectivity handset. The smart phone included their popular canvas series
Canvas Duet AE90 is listed for online purchase through infibeam and ebay. The Gujarat based e- commerce website infibeam.com offers 49% off rate and decided to retail Rs. 8,999. On ebay, Canvas Duet is listed for Rs. 9299. Both websites have announced it’s in their stock. Yet, there is no information about the official launch of the handset.

          Most of the Micromax devices like, Micromax Canvas Duet AE90 is also a dual-SIM (GSM+CDMA) smartphone. The handset features a 4.5-inch qHD display with a 540 x 960 pixels resolution. Considering the resolution figures, the display features offers a decent display experience. The smart phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software which can upgrade in the feature.

Android 4.5/5.0 Lollipop
          Google is coming with the latest version of the Android OS. According to  the various online sources Google has given the name “Lollipop” to its fresh version.
  
          As all we know, Google has been following an alphabetic order for naming its Android versions as Cupcake (1.5), Doughnut (1.6), Eclair (2.0–2.1) Froyo (2.2–2.2.3) Ginger bread (2.3–2.3.7), Honeycomb (3.0–3.2.6), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0–4.0.4), Jelly Bean (4.1–4.3.1) and KitKat (4.4–4.4.4) Google is expected to unveil Lollipop at Google Developer’s Conference in   San Francisco on June 25th.

          From the  advent of the Kitkat version there were rumors about the new Android form. It is reported that the novel version will appear with the name of Android 5.0 Lollipop. But there is no official announcement of  the new version as whether it is 4.5 or 5.0.

Google gave a hint about  the new arrival by posting the picture of three smartphones with the time 5.00pm. Furthermore, the Android Police has released a"Quantum Paper", Google’s design framework, having  information about the advent of a major remodel entitled "Android L."

          Google is inviting the whole world to Brazil, the land of soccer,via introducing ‘Street View’ imagery of all the 12 World Cup stadiums. According to Deanna Yick, the Street View program manager, Google map is a ticket to the world cup.

          It offers great experiences to the online tourists and those who are unable to go to Brazil for the world cup. Google map not only provides  images from  the stadiums, but also turns its cameras to the areas near the venues  and the other South and Central American countries, including Peru, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

          The service also features maps of the airports, malls, and hundreds of interesting sites  across Brazil that the football fans may want to explore. Images from the Iguacu National Park and St. Michael of the Missions are already included in this map. Deanna Yick says “if you’re lucky enough to have a physical ticket to Brazil, don’t forget to pack Google Maps for mobile."

          The team is taking  the street pictures with the aid of  roaming camera carrying cars. There is no doubt that the new launch will be a great blessing to the soccer fans across the world.

          Canvas Elanza 2 A121 is one of the dual SIM budget smart phones from the popular Indian handset maker, Micromax. The smart phone now available in India through online for Rs. 9,499.

But the processor is not able to control heavy loaded situations like multitasking, advanced mobile gaming, etc. But considering its nominal price tag, this is not an issue. Sufficient memory options like 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM, 32GB expandable memory via micro SD Cards are available on the device.

Camera

          The handset sports dual shooters which are designed on the front and rear panels. An 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash is the main shooter unit which performed sufficient level in the outdoors. But the indoor capturing ability is an average standing. Grainy results and poor performance in low light are the limitations. There is also a  2-megapixel auto focus front-facing camera onboard, which for video chatting needs. Considering the mega pixel ratio, the secondary camera results are attractive.

Battery Power

          Canvas Elanza 2 A121 is powered by a standard 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery. According to the Company, the power unit provides 7.5 hours talk time and 240 hours standby time. But it is in normal usage with 2G network. Heavy usage conditions like 3G, gaming, net browsing with playing videos and songs, local videos, continuous calling and video calling situations the battery usage facing more limitations. Our quality test confirmed that when the handset involving heavy usage conditions, the battery provides 5-6 hours continuous usage. 
          
          However, the Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 A121 smart phone is undoubtedly recommended.

Micromax Canvas 2 Colours (A120)

          Micromax Canvas 2 Colours A120 smart phone has 5 inches (12.7 cm) HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution which provides a brilliant viewing experience. Considering its nominal price tag, the smart phone enables a vibrant package of smart features. Our quality tests stating that the touch display of the device is in good standing.  Seeing photos, videos and mobile games through the device are remarkable.

          Canvas 2 Colours is powered by 1.3 GHz quad core MT6582 processor with built in graphic acceleration which performed a sufficient level for normal usage. Considering the advanced gaming and multitasking capabilities, the processor just lacks a little. But considering the amount we spent for buying this product, it is not a matter. The smart phone has 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM. The handset carries an expandable memory slot for expanding its memory up to 32GB via micro SD card.

          The smart phone sports dual shooters which are 8 mega pixel auto focus camera with flash on the rear and 2 mega pixel fixed focus camera on the front. The 8 mega pixel main camera’s testing results are stating that the shooter can take pictures beautifully in daylight in the outdoors. But the indoor performance is grainy and the low light performance is poor. The front camera is exclusively for video chatting which is sufficient for the purpose.
          The handset is powered by a standard 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery. According to the Company, the battery provides 7 hours 45 mins talk time and 225 hours standby time. But our tests are clarifying that the details are only for normal usage. But the smart phone engaged with heavy usage which included 3G, maximum level screen brightness, two hours and more calls, net browsing (including videos and pictures), gaming, playing local videos and songs, the device lasted for only 5-6 hours.
          Advanced connectivity options like 3G , Bluetooth 4.0 , Wi-Fi and USB 2.0, latest sensor list such as Light Sensor, Motion Sensor and Proximity Sensor are enable the device.

Gionee Elife S5.5

          The popular Chinese cell phone manufacturer Gionee Communication Equipment Co. Ltd recently released a marvelously designed smart phone named Gionee Elife S5.5. The Company  is calling itself  that the product is world's slimmest Smartphone. Does not matter is it true or false.  But it is true that the device is attractively slim and keeping good features.

The full HD display uses LTPS Corning Gorilla Glass Third Generation Cover for overcoming accidental crashes.  The handset is powered by 1.7GHz Octa - core  MTK 6592 processor with inbuilt graphic acceleration. 
          Elife S5.5 runs the popular Google Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Gionee’s Amigo 2.0 UI. The handset comes with 2GB of RAM and  16 GB internal storage. But there is no expandable memory option.The smart phone provides advanced connectivity options such as 3G, WI-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WI-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. 
          The Gionee Elife S5.5 has 13-mega pixel rear shooter with LED flash and a 5 mega pixels front camera for video chatting needs. The main camera on the rear panel, which is able to record full HD (1080p) videos. The Camera also offers some Smart feature such as, burst mode, HDR, Geo-Tagging and many more. The device also powered by a standard  2300 mAh Li-ion, battery which is non removable. The company declares the price of the handset in India, which is 22999. But there are no words about the availability of the product.

Nokia is dead

            It is really heart breaking. The popular name Nokia is no more. Now the Company’s mobile business has become converted as Microsoft Mobile which is one of the secondary businesses of Microsoft Cop. On 2014 April 25th was the last day of the Company. The Microsoft acquires with an amount of $7.5bn (£4.46bn) deal for Nokia's mobile phone handset businesses and its marvelous design team too. Nokia also sold their huge manufacturing and assembly divisions and operations, and sales and marketing support. According to the deal, Microsoft will acquire 25,000 Nokia employees in 50 countries and More than 4,000 employees in Finland. The bad new is about half of their total employs are forced to resign.  Nokia's Helsinki headquarters will be re-named. Earlier both companies have partnership for designing Nokia Lumia Mobile series and a successful. 


End of an Era

                    So many years Nokia led the world phone market. They introduced several popular designs and features. But after the successful launch of Google Android platforms, the smart phone market suddenly changed and Nokia dropped seriously. Nokia’s self-designed operating systems are not in a good standing. At last Nokia feel such a failure and signed a contract agreement to Google. Google Android provides their service for Nokia mobiles recently. Nokia X was the first Android-Nokia venture. But it is too late and the combined venture becomes a confused statement.

Nokia X is the new attraction from Nokia mobiles. The device is also known as Nokia Normandy and Nokia A110. The device runs Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform. But it is the modified design of Nokia's Android Open Source Project.  Nokia X is one of the dual connectivity mobiles from Nokia which enables the special features of Microsoft also. The dual SIM handset will attract budget enthusiastic customers, because of its attractive price tag. The device now available in India Rs. 8449.

The company plans to release its extended versions named Nokia X+ dual SIM and Nokia XL dual SIM. The Marketing Director of Nokia India Mr. Viral Oza, and the Head of Channel Development, Mr. Joyce Ray said in a live demonstration conducted by Nokia India that the Nokia X dual will be one of the pioneer products of their multi-platform combination device developed by Nokia with the support of Google Android and Microsoft Windows. The first impression of the handset is its lightweight features and verity of color options such as Bright green, bright red, cyan, yellow, black and white. The back panel of the device is removable 

The handset is powered by a Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A5 processor which accompanied Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset. The popular Adreno 203 graphic acceleration also enables the device. Nokia X has 4.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 233 PPI (pixels per inch) density. The device has 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory.  There is an expandable Micro SD slot on the device which supports up to 32 GB expandable memory. The device has 3.15 MP rear shooter with 2048 x 1536 pixels quality. There is no flash light on the device. Advanced connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, microUSB v2.0 etc. are available on the handset. The Nokia X dual is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery which provides Up to 13 hours 20 min talk time in 2G and   Up to 10 hours 30 min in 3G.
